Job summary

Elekta in Crawley is seeking a Lead Software Developer in Test to shape the quality engineering strategy for its safety-critical radiation therapy software. You will lead the design and evolution of automated testing frameworks and drive high standards across engineering disciplines.

You will collaborate with software engineers, product owners, and architects to implement robust test strategies, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and mentor SDETs and testers.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a Software Developer in Test, SDET, or Test Automation Engineer.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and implementing modern DevSecOps practices.
• Hands-on experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Cypress, Selenium, or similar automation technologies.
• Ability to define and drive quality engineering strategies within regulated or safety-critical environments.

• Define and implement test automation strategies that support high-quality software delivery.

• Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of new testing technologies, tools, and practices.
• Support the investigation and resolution of complex software quality issues and contribute to long-term quality roadmaps.

What You’ll Do At Elekta

As a Lead Software Developer in Test, you'll play a key role in shaping the quality engineering strategy behind Elekta's radiation therapy treatment systems. Working closely with software engineers, testers, Product Owners, and architects, you'll drive modern test automation practices, champion a shift-left quality culture, and help ensure our products continue to meet the highest standards expected in a safety-critical medical device environment.

What You’ll Bring

• Strong experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and implementing modern DevSecOps practices.
• Proven ability to define and drive quality engineering strategies within a regulated or safety-critical environment.
• Hands‑on experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Cypress, Selenium, or similar automation technologies.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to influence teams and promote a shift-left testing culture.
• Experience troubleshooting complex software quality challenges and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and a passion for delivering high-quality, maintainable software.
