Job summary

Elekta is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for shared software components and services used across Elekta's product portfolio. You will work with architects, engineering leaders and product teams to define direction, guide decisions and ensure secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions.

You'll lead design and development, drive architectural choices, and contribute to safety, cybersecurity and risk management, while mentoring engineers to elevate software

Qualifications

• Strong background in C#, .NET / ASP.NET Core and distributed systems.
• Experience designing reusable services, versioned APIs, microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, cloud-native technologies and modern deployment practices.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing and development tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and maintenance of shared software components and services using C#/.NET for cloud and on-premises deployments.
• Define APIs, integration contracts and component boundaries, ensuring interoperability and backward compatibility across products.
• Guide architectural and technical decisions, balancing performance, scalability, security, reliability and maintainability.
• Drive software quality through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD practices and engineering standards.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis and resolution of complex product, integration and customer issues.
• Contribute to safety, cybersecurity and risk management activities, including vulnerability remediation and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with architects, product teams and engineering leaders to manage technical priorities, dependencies and delivery plans.
• Mentor engineers and help elevate technical expertise, engineering practices and software quality across the organisation.

What You’ll Do At Elekta:

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for shared software components and services used across Elekta's product portfolio. Working closely with architects, engineering leaders and product teams, you'll define technical direction, guide architectural decisions and ensure solutions are secure, scalable and maintainable. You'll help drive engineering best practices, contribute to safety and cybersecurity initiatives, and support the development of high-quality software that meets the needs of customers worldwide.

What You’ll Bring:

Extensive software engineering experience with a strong background in C#, .NET / ASP.NET Core and distributed systems. Experience designing reusable services, versioned APIs, microservices and event-driven architectures. Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, cloud-native technologies and modern deployment practices. Knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing and development tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins or equivalent. Experience leading technical initiatives, influencing architecture decisions and mentoring engineers. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance technical quality, delivery priorities and risk.

Nice to Have:

• Experience working within healthcare, medical technology or other regulated environments.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, GitOps, infrastructure automation and scripting.
• Experience contributing to secure software development, observability and cybersecurity practices.
