Job summary

Frazer-Nash Consultancy is seeking a Software Assurance & Functional Safety Consultant to support clients in safety-critical software and systems. You will work across the engineering lifecycle, linking hazards to software architecture and evidence, with travel to client sites as required.

You’ll lead technical activities, mentor juniors, and contribute to client relationships, bid activity, and capability growth within our practice.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified or equivalent practical experience in software or safety engineering.
• Experience developing, verifying, or assuring safety-critical software.
• Strong understanding of functional safety and hazard-driven requirements.
• Ability to assess structured engineering evidence and traceability.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver software assurance and functional safety activities across lifecycles.
• Develop and review safety plans, assurance matrices, and compliance strategies.
• Derive and allocate software safety requirements from hazards and safety analyses.
• Review architectures, development processes, verification methods, and change control.
• Conduct independent assurance activities and supplier reviews with clear documentation.
• Support safety cases and credible assurance arguments with traceable evidence.
