Job summary

Frazer-Nash Consultancy seeks an Experienced C&I and Functional Safety Consultant to join our multidisciplinary team in the UK. The role covers lead C&I projects from concept through commissioning across sectors such as civil nuclear, defence, and energy storage, with hybrid working between offices, client sites and home.

You will mentor electrical engineers, develop safety-critical solutions aligned with IEC 61508/IEC 61511 and ISO 13849, and deliver compliant reports and designs while guiding

Qualifications

• MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) is required.
• Strong practical knowledge of process control systems and EC&I documents (SLDs, P&IDs, BCDs, schematics).
• Experience leading safety-critical system solutions to IEC 61508/61511 and ISO 13849, DO-178/DO-254.
• Experience with ISO 9001 requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Mentoring and development of electrical engineers.
• Technical leadership on projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead C&I projects from concept design through commissioning.
• Develop safety-critical process control solutions and accompanying safety systems.
• Deliver innovation projects from concept to acceptance.
• Manage production, verification and approval of electrical reports, specifications and detailed designs.
• Lead project teams to deliver on time and within budget.
• Engage with clients to define requirements, negotiate contracts, and report progress and risk.
