Job summary

The post holder will be the senior mechanical craftsperson leading the in-house maintenance team across Newham University Hospital Retained Estate within Barts Health Estates & Facilities Services. You will oversee fault-finding and maintenance for boilers, HVAC, and associated systems, coordinating with external contractors and ensuring compliance with safety and statutory requirements.

Reporting to the Estates Operations Manager, you will drive PPΜ and RM activities, conduct quality reviews,

Qualifications

Must hold AP/CP accreditation and be a Competent Person.
Experience in hospital estates maintenance and lead roles.
Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical services.
Ability to coordinate with mechanical contractors and staff.
Familiar with safety, risk assessments and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead estates mechanical team and contractors to complete planned and reactive maintenance.
Ensure PPM, RM, minor works, major overhauls and replacements are delivered on time.
Repair, fault-find and diagnose boilers, HVAC, controls, and generators.
Develop improvement plans and monitor quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
Work on-call in Estates Craftsperson Team as required and coordinate with Ops Manager.
Maintain safe systems of work, site inductions, COSHH/risk assessments and permit-to-work.
