Job summary

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking an Estates Supervisor to lead a multi-skilled maintenance team and oversee in-house and contracted staff across Mile End and Royal London Retained Estate properties. The role requires coordinating PPM, reactive maintenance, and major overhauls within a complex healthcare environment.

You will ensure statutory compliance across water hygiene, asbestos, fire management, and related systems, with AP awareness viewed as advantageous.

Job description

The Estates Hard FM Team is responsible for the day to day repairs, PPM and operational testing for a wide range of building services and equipment located in the Trust. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and flexible estates supervisor to join our multi-Skilled Estates team at Mile End Hospital site providing operational maintenance services throughout the Trust and its associated properties and sites.

You will be a positive team member with a can do attitude accompanied with a recognised understanding of the latest HTM's (Heath Technical Memorandums), conversant with up to date ACOP's, BS & EN standards & SFG20 Standard Maintenance Specifications as they affect the management of Building Services throughout a frequently complex Health Care environment.

Essentially be able to demonstrate a clear understanding in the management of statutory compliance as they affect NHS building premises. Areas of compliance would typically be in water hygiene, asbestos and fire management, Medical Gases and Air Conditioning systems. Being an AP (Authorised Person) in any of these specialist groups will be an advantage.

Ideally you will have proven specialist skills in house maintenance and external contractor management. In particular you will have excellent communicative skills that can articulate issues and problems to senior management in a meaningful way both to clinical and non-clinical members of staff.

The post holder will be responsible for the supervision of in-house multi skilled maintenance teams and contracted staff in the day to day running of the Estates service delivery within the Retained Estate Services.

Under general direction of the Estates Manager, he/she will supervise all buildings, plant, and equipment to be serviced and maintained throughout Mile End & Royal London Retained Estate property in accordance with Statutory & Mandatory requirements in a timely manner. In Including Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance (RM), minor works, major overhauls, and replacement. In addition, the Estates Supervisor will be required to be an initiative-taker who is able to work on his/her own initiative.
