Job summary

Ksubaka, a London-based engineering team and market leader in in-store gamified advertising, is hiring a Lead/Senior Backend Software Engineer. You will help design and build our software platform to support new experiences and future growth.

The role requires proven software engineering experience, a degree in CS/Engineering (MSc preferred), strong Java skills, SQL/NoSQL expertise, and experience with Hibernate/JPA2, TDD, and Agile in international teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, MSc preferred.
  • Proven software engineering experience with Java.
  • Experience with SQL and ORM technologies (Hibernate/JPA2).
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases and TDD.
  • Strong communication and collaboration in international contexts.

Salary: £43,000 - 83,000 per year

Requirements
  • Proven working experience in software engineering
  • At least a BSc degree in Computer Science or Engineering, with an MSc preferred
  • Ability to develop in Java
  • Experience with functional programming languages
  • Excellent knowledge of relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies such as JPA2 and Hibernate, with prior experience of NoSQL solutions
  • Hands-on experience in designing interactive applications
  • Experience with test-driven development
  • Mastery of software engineering tools
  • Ability to document requirements and specifications
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodology and release processes
  • Experience working in international environments
  • High ability to adapt communication for technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert by updating job knowledge through studying state-of-the-art development tools and programming techniques, participating in networks, and reading professional publications
