Job summary

Tesco in London is seeking a software engineer with strong Java/JVM expertise to design and build end-to-end systems powering our pricing and promotions APIs.

You will translate product needs into clean, scalable code, write tests (TDD/BDD), apply SOLID principles, deploy infrastructure, and collaborate with product teams to refine features in a hybrid work model that combines office and remote work.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Java 8+.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proven ability to scale systems.
• Familiar with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall).
• Exposure to reactive programming paradigms.
• Bonus: experience with ecommerce or search systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end systems using JVM and Java expertise.
• Translate product requirements into well-structured, maintainable code.
• Write test-driven features and follow the TDD and BDD cycle.
