Job summary

National Energy System Operator Limited is seeking a Lead Security Consultant to translate strategy into practical delivery, aligning security with business priorities and technology change across NESO.

Based in Wokingham or Warwick with hybrid office/home working, the role requires NSV clearance and UK residency for the last five years, while influencing stakeholders and embedding security by design across programmes.

Qualifications

• CISSP, CISM or equivalent relevant professional qualification (or equivalent experience).
• Significant experience in cyber or information security consultancy, risk management, security assessment or secure technology delivery.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity standards, good practice and their practical integration into organisational change and operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strong understanding of strategies, priorities and roadmaps, providing a holistic security view across programmes and business areas.
• Act as a trusted security partner to stakeholders, delivering clear, timely and proportionate advice throughout the change lifecycle.
• Lead coordination of security design, assurance and review activities across Security teams.
• Work with Security Architecture to ensure mitigations are designed into solutions and aligned with risk appetite.
• Handle escalations and resolve security issues with pragmatic, business-focused decisions.
• Identify, assess and address material security risks, with residual risks documented and accepted where appropriate.
• Establish and improve ways of working between Security and stakeholders to embed security by design.
• Assess demand and resource needs, coordinating Security colleagues to provide coverage.
