Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to lead secure platform design and delivery across on-premise, hybrid and cloud environments. You will shape architecture, drive technical delivery, and mentor engineers within a Defence and government context.

The role requires managing complex requirements, working in an agile team, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in a security-conscious environment. A DV clearance will be required.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority in a platform engineering domain.
• Lead secure platform design across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud.
• Capture and interpret complex customer requirements for system design.
• Develop high- and low-level designs aligned with secure-by-design principles.
• Own technical delivery within work packages including planning and progress reporting.
• Mentor engineers to raise technical capability across the community.
• Contribute to technology strategies and feasibility studies.
• Engage stakeholders and justify design decisions.
