Job summary

Leonardo UK seeks a Principal Platform Engineer to lead secure platform design, integration and delivery for defence and government services. The role blends hands‑on engineering with technical leadership across on‑prem and cloud, in a collaborative, agile environment.

You will mentor engineers, shape architecture, and engage stakeholders while delivering trusted solutions within highly controlled environments. DV clearance preferred/required where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must have extensive experience across platform domains and delivering secure solutions.
• Able to balance hands‑on engineering with technical leadership and mentorship.
• Understanding of secure-by-design principles and lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority on one platform domain and provide specialist expertise.
• Lead design and implementation of secure platforms across on‑premise, hybrid, and cloud environments.
• Capture and translate complex requirements into system designs and architectures.
