Job summary

Wellcome Genome Campus is seeking a Staff Scientist (Fixed term 6 months) to lead histology and spatial transcriptomics wet lab work within the Vento group. You will manage sample prep, embedding, sectioning, and imaging, while guiding PhD students and postdocs and contributing to publications.

The role emphasizes expertise in histology, image analysis, and independent project leadership within a collaborative environment on human development research.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biology or Biomedical or interdisciplinary field.
• Expertise in histology and histopathology.
• Expertise in image analysis tools and approaches.
• Experience delivering training.
• Experience leading projects with publications or meetings.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily laboratory work for histology and spatial transcriptomics pipelines.
• Coordinate with the Vento team and provide histological expertise across Institute projects.
• Provide image analysis and help set project targets; oversee experiments and image analysis.
• Train team members in sample processing and SOPs; review risk assessments.
• Supervise and guide PhD students and postdocs; contribute to publications.
