Job summary

Fundamental XR in London is seeking a Lead Simulation Engineer to own the architecture and delivery of our real-time XR simulations. You will lead a 4+ engineer team, shape technical direction, and drive reusable components across training and physics models.

You will mentor engineers, raise engineering standards, and work with product/design on feasible solutions while balancing fast delivery with long-term strategy. This role is hybrid in London.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building real-time simulation or XR systems in Unity, including creating and delivering major architecture strategies.
• Strong hands-on Unity experience essential; experience with Unreal and scalable architectures is an advantage.
• Track record of technical leadership, mentoring, and managing team performance.
• Knowledge of agentic coding tools (Codex, Claude Code) and other AI-assisted software engineering methods.
• Experience with Meta Quest (Horizon OS) and other XR platforms across VR, MR and Web.

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction for Simulation, leading the Simulation team of 4+ engineers.
• Architect scalable, real-time simulation systems and reusable components across XR/VR training and physics models.
• Lead estimation and delivery of client work, balancing short-term delivery with long-term technology strategy.
• Set engineering standards for simulation code, ensuring performance, accuracy and maintainability.
• Mentor and manage the 4+ simulation engineers, including performance reviews and outsourcing coordination.
• Define the shared code roadmap and promote agentic coding practices for productivity improvements.
