8th Light in London is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive architecture and delivery on complex client engagements. The role spans multiple technologies with a focus on ML, AI features, and scalable platforms. You’ll mentor teams, lead design discussions, and partner with clients to balance technical choices with product outcomes.

London hub offers hybrid work with one day per week in Waterloo. The company highlights a transparent compensation philosophy and strong learning culture.

• Led high-stakes consulting engagements from discovery to production.
• Built high-quality, maintainable software collaboratively and incrementally.
• Wrote production-quality code in Java, C#/.NET, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Go, Ruby, Scala, R, SQL.
• Used AI-assisted development tools for scaffolding, refactoring, debugging, and docs.
• Experience integrating AI/ML features into products or systems.
• Used automated testing to inform design and catch bugs.
• Refactored pre-existing code to improve it incrementally.
• Collaborated with teams using Git, MacOS/Linux, and CI/CD.
• Addressed scalability, security, reliability, and performance concerns.
• Mentored colleagues and shared knowledge.
• Communicated empathically with stakeholders and balanced tech with product needs.

Responsabilidades

• Making immediate contributions to projects, rapidly building trust with clients.
• Balancing technology choices while delivering high-quality work within deadlines.
• Leading architecture and software design discussions.
• Collaborating on systems covering the full ML lifecycle from data ingestion to deployment and monitoring.
• Generating new solutions to technical and non-technical challenges with the team and clients.
• Leading or initiating formal feedback conversations via retrospectives.
• Documenting outcomes clearly and driving forward action items.
• Contributing to 8th Light's culture by modeling our values.
• Ensuring the team backlog is healthy, prioritized, and estimated.
• Managing high-level project roadmaps for large engagements.
• Maintaining relationships with client technical leaders.
• Regular client syncs for status updates and risk reviews.
• Identifying and resolving blockers to team progress.
• Mentoring, workshops, and supporting hiring as a contributor to 8th Light.
