Job description

Lead Rapid Application Developer

The position entails the rapid development of applications aimed at enhancing middle-office and operational processes, identifying procedural gaps and risks, and ensuring the accuracy of data generated by internal systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise across various domains, including UI development, application development with Python or Java, DevOps, and Data Engineering.

The candidate will engage closely with key stakeholders and senior management across departments and regions to design and execute projects and initiatives, ensuring their timely delivery. Additionally, the candidate will also collaborate with the Global Operations Control team and work with internal resources and external counterparties to continuously improve processes.

Principal Responsibilities

• Design and develop intuitive and responsive user interfaces that enhance user experience and interaction

• Develop robust applications using Python or Java, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end

• Implement, monitor, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless integration and delivery of applications

• Design and implement scalable data architecture solutions to optimize data integration, storage, and retrieval processes across the department

• Leverage AI and ML technologies to enhance the functionality and performance of applications, contributing to proactive risk identification and mitigation

• Candidate will perform data transformation tasks to clean, normalize, and structure data for analytics and controls. This may involve writing complex SQL queries, using Python libraries like pandas for data manipulation. Additionally, it may involve integrating with databases, REST APIs, or other data sources, as well as ensuring data quality and integrity

• Build a Risk Data Controls framework for validating Positions, Trades, PnL, Greeks, and Pricing Data to ensure the robustness of the firm's data processes and Risk Models

• Automate processes in middle office to mitigate operational risk and improve efficiency

• Coordinate and work closely with internal teams across Ops, IT, Legal, Compliance and Finance departments globally as necessary and with external parties to deliver projects, regulatory reports, and control frameworks

Qualifications/Skills Required

• 6+ years of experience in full-stack development

• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern front-end framework (e.g., React, AngularJS)

• Experience with API development and integration

• Experience with a server-side language and framework (e.g., Python with Django, Java with Spring, Node.js with Express)

• Experience in designing and developing applications that can handle high volume and ensure continuous operation

• Experience in performing data transformation/manipulation using Python libraries such as pandas and numpy.

• Experience with KDB, including data ingestion, manipulation, and querying is a plus.

• 2+ years of experience in financial services; strong knowledge of financial instruments, securities and derivatives.

• Exposure to market risk concepts, sensitivities, and the trade lifecycle is a significant plus.

• Quick learner; understands financial products and has the ability to grasp new concepts and processes quickly

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills (project plans, presentations, data mining, analysis)

• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with wider teams internally as well as with external parties

• Able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; High sense of urgency to meet tight deadlines
