STFC - The Science and Technology Facilities Council seeks a Senior Quantum Applications Engineer for the National Quantum Computing Centre at Harwell. You will lead the development of quantum computing solutions, mentor colleagues, and guide research from concept to proof-of-value across algorithms, software, and hardware.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team with scientists and engineers, driving collaborations with government, industry and academia to accelerate the UK's quantum

Formación

• PhD level (or equivalent) in quantum computing, quantum information, or closely related field.
• Proven track record of research in quantum computing (peer‑reviewed publications).
• Experience delivering technical work and collaborative projects in quantum computing.
• Experience with quantum algorithms in simulation, optimisation and/or ML; emulation and execution of quantum circuits.

Responsabilidades

• Lead technical work to support team objectives and deliver research results.
• Develop, test and refine quantum algorithms and software using SDKs (Qiskit, Cirq).
• Collaborate with experts in benchmarking, verification, and error correction to enable useful applications.
• Identify problem types and develop use-cases for quantum computing in priority sectors.
• Analyse quantum advantage for practical problems using classical benchmarks.
• Lead collaborations with stakeholders and mentor junior staff.
