Job summary

PPM Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for Preston/UK to manage commercial aspects of retail fit-out and refurbishment projects. You will oversee budgets, procurement, contracts, and final accounts across multiple schemes.

You will ensure cost control, maximise margins and deliver projects in line with commercial objectives, collaborating with project teams and clients to develop robust financial forecasts.

Qualifications

• Solid background in construction, fit-out or refurbishment.
• Experience managing projects in the 100k to 2m+ range.
• Good understanding of subcontractor procurement and package management.
• Valuations, variations, cost reporting, forecasting and final accounts.
• Strong numerical and analytical ability.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Capability to manage several projects and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the commercial management of several concurrent fit-out and refurbishment schemes.
• Produce and maintain budgets, cost plans and financial projections.
• Manage subcontractor and material supplier procurement.
• Prepare tender enquiries, assess returns and negotiate terms.
• Oversee subcontractor accounts, including applications, valuations and payments.
• Control variations and changes through project lifecycle.
• Monitor cash flow and cost-to-complete forecasts.
• Prepare regular CVRs and financial reports.
