Job summary

Mott MacDonald in the UK is seeking a Principal Power System Engineer specializing in PSCAD to lead advanced EMT studies for renewable generation, HVDC, FACTS, and grid integration. You will develop and validate PSCAD models and provide technical leadership across UK and international projects.

The role combines hands-on modelling, client engagement, and mentoring junior engineers, with a focus on delivering high-quality reports, supporting business growth, and staying ahead of grid code

Qualifications

• Essential PSCAD modelling experience and EMT studies
• Strong understanding of power electronic converter technologies
• Ability to lead technical workstreams and mentor engineers
• Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and undertake advanced PSCAD-based EMT studies for transmission and distribution networks
• Develop, validate and maintain PSCAD models for renewable plants, BESS, HVDC/FACTS, and grid-connected converters
• Interpret EMT results and provide practical engineering recommendations
• Prepare high-quality technical reports and present findings to clients
• Mentor junior engineers and support business development
