Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Principal Design Engineer – Protection to lead transmission protection and control system work for National Grid projects in the UK. You will mentor engineers, optimise design processes, and ensure compliance with current standards and customer requirements.

Based in the UK with hybrid work and some travel, you will apply SIPROTEC/DIGSI knowledge and coordinate across teams to deliver robust protection solutions for the National Grid network.

Qualifications

• Multidisciplinary teams delivering protection and automation solutions.
• Application of protection and control systems on National Grid transmission network.
• Knowledge of NG delivery standards and contractor design approval processes.
• Detailed design covering diagrams, interfaces, cubicles, settings, FAT.
• Experience with NG as direct customer or EPC for protection solutions.
• English communication and collaboration with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Deliver transmission protection and control systems for National Grid projects.
• Mentor and coach team members to support growth.
• Assess and optimise Protection Engineering processes for efficiency and on-time delivery.
• Provide innovative protection solutions as technical lead for UK projects.
• Ensure Siemens solutions align with latest policies and standards.
• Maintain high customer service standards and quality.
• Provide technical feedback to Sales, Proposals and Operations.
• Foster knowledge sharing and continuous improvement culture.
