Job summary

ABB UK is seeking a leader to head the Project Management Office within the Electrification Service Division. You will guide project managers in policy implementation, shape execution strategy, and collaborate across teams to drive performance. This hybrid role involves travel and on-site customer engagement to deliver improvements and value.

You will influence stakeholders, manage complex projects end-to-end, and mentor teams while fostering continuous development and global project excellence.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• Proven track record of managing full project lifecycle, including scope, schedule, cost control, and vendor/subcontractor management.
• Strong collaborative and solution‑oriented mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience managing teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
• Advance Planning, Scheduling and Organisational skills.
• Relevant certification in project management; Lean Six Sigma advantageous.
• Willingness to travel and engage face to face with customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the PMO team in defining, implementing, and applying project management policies and work instructions.
• Contribute to the definition and implementation of project execution strategy within the Electrification Service Division in the UK.
• Ensure customer focus, urgency, and care, driving superior service and continuous improvement.
• Engage with customers on-site to identify opportunities for improving operations and reducing pain points.
• Oversee portfolio-level project management activities through reviews with management and project managers.
• Act as escalation point for project management issues and help resolve escalated cases.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you'll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.
- Work model: hybrid

• Ensuring customer focus, urgency, and care in your area of responsibility, delivering superior service experience and driving relentless improvement of customer satisfaction.
• Working with the customer (while on-site) in identifying opportunities for improving the customers operations and eliminating pain points.
• Overseeing project management activities at the portfolio level through project reviews with the management team and project managers.
• Serving as an escalation point for individual and systemic project management issues and taking an active role in resolving escalated issues.

Qualifications for the Role

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• Proven track record of managing full project lifecycle, including scope, schedule, cost control, and vendor/subcontractor management within the electrical industry.
• Strong collaborative and solution-oriented mindset, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience managing teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
• Advance Planning, Scheduling and Organisational skills.
• Strong commitment to professional development with a relevant certification in project management, with Lean Six Sigma being advantageous.
• Willingness to travel and engage face to face with our customer.
