Job summary

Simpson Booth Ltd in Burnley is seeking a Project Delivery Engineer to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of complex fabrication projects. You will work closely with Engineering, Production and Commercial teams to ensure on‑time, on‑budget project completion with a strong safety and quality focus.

The role requires hands‑on fabrication experience and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment, reporting to the Senior Project Delivery Manager.

Qualifications

• Degree‑level qualification in Engineering, Business Studies, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Project Management qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP or APM.
• Relevant technical or fabrication qualification.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs and margins.
• Experience coordinating people, equipment, materials and resources.
• Proven experience in project operations and project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support the successful delivery of projects from mobilisation through to completion.
• Work closely with Engineering, Fabrication, Welding, Coating, Production and Commercial teams to ensure project requirements are met.
• Coordinate people, equipment, materials and resources to keep projects on track.
• Support the development and management of project plans, production schedules and project reporting.
• Monitor project progress, milestones, dependencies and critical paths, taking action where required.
• Identify potential issues, risks and delays early and work proactively to resolve them.
• Manage changes to project scope and support the development of contingency plans where required.
• Ensure project documentation is completed accurately and on time, working closely with the Engineering team.
• Communicate project expectations, progress and requirements clearly to internal teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Produce progress reports, proposals, presentations and other project documentation as required.
• Deputise for the Senior Project Delivery Manager when required.
• Lead or support project close‑out activities, capturing lessons learned and identifying opportunities to improve future project delivery.
• Fabrication & Technical Experience: understand fabrication requirements, processes and production constraints.
• Work with welding and fabrication teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently.
• Identify practical solutions to technical and production challenges.
