Job summary

Candour Talent is recruiting a Production Engineer for a permanent role in Port Talbot. The position leads a production section, driving technical performance, maintenance, and continuous improvement in a fast-moving manufacturing facility.

The ideal candidate brings significant FMCG/high-speed manufacturing experience, a Mechanical Engineering qualification, and a proactive, hands-on leadership style. Excellent CI and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in FMCG/high-speed manufacturing or similar automated environments.
• Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (Level 4/HNC/HND) or equivalent.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and fault finding.
• Strong Lean Manufacturing knowledge including SMED and RCA.
• Proactive continuous improvement mindset and leadership potential.
• Ability to interpret production data and equipment performance.
• Able to work independently and collaborate across maintenance, quality, planning, and suppliers.
• Experience working with OEMs and external suppliers.
• Experience in leading/coaching a team.
• ILM Level 3 or equivalent leadership qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the designated production section.
• Oversee day-to-day technical performance, equipment condition and tooling readiness.
• Coordinate maintenance and improvement activities with the maintenance engineering team.
• Identify CI opportunities and lead improvement initiatives as the technical expert.
• Train and develop operators and team leaders across all shifts.
• Lead lean manufacturing, SMED, RCA, changeovers and problem solving.
