Job summary

Advance TRS is seeking an experienced Principal Process Engineer to join its water sector team in Manchester. The role blends technical leadership with hands-on delivery of high-quality water and wastewater treatment solutions, offering scope for impact and progression in a growing design practice.

The successful candidate will lead complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with industry standards, while working on a hybrid model with 2-3 days in the office.

Qualifications

10+ years of process design experience in the water sector.
Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional registration.
Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and delivery of projects.

Responsibilities

Produce safe, high-quality process design deliverables.
Lead design work informed by site visits and scopes.
Mentor junior engineers and designers.
Prepare design risk assessments, reports and specs.
Carry out mass balance, sizing and hydraulic calculations.
Develop PFDs, control philosophies and commissioning strategies.
Ensure compliance with technical standards.
Estimate hours and manage design changes.
Present designs at HAZOP, ALM and similar reviews.

Skills

10+ years experience in process design

Chartered Engineer

Wastewater treatment expertise

Degree or HND in engineering

IT and presentation skills

Strong communication skills
