Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd in Leeds is seeking a Principal Engineering Geologist to lead geotechnical design and ground investigations. The role involves overseeing a team, planning site investigations, interpreting data, and producing detailed reports for diverse projects across residential, commercial, infrastructure and energy sectors.

The ideal candidate has strong geotechnical design experience, a relevant degree, chartership or progress toward it, and full rights to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in geotechnical design and/or ground investigation.
• Ability to manage projects and deliver technical reports.
• Chartership (or working towards) and full UK driving licence.
• Right to work in the UK and reside near Leeds.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the geologist team.
• Plan and supervise site investigations.
• Interpret ground data and prepare reports.
• Contribute to foundation design, earthworks, slope stability, and ground movement assessments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical solutions.
