Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is assisting a Salisbury secondary school to appoint an outstanding Lead Practitioner of Physics & STEM. The role blends expert classroom teaching with strategic leadership across the Science faculty for GCSE and A-Level Physics.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, auditing practical frameworks, driving mathematical modelling, and leading STEM enrichment like robotics and astronomy. Start January; full-time, permanent contract.

Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with an honours degree in Physics or related engineering.
Proven track record of delivering strong GCSE and A-Level Physics results.
Experience in peer coaching, staff development, or STEM coordination.
Deep practical laboratory and mathematical modelling expertise.
Enhanced DBS checks current or willing to apply.

Responsibilities

Model exemplary classroom delivery across GCSE Science and A-Level Physics.
Lead whole-faculty coaching on mathematical rigor and experimental design.
Audit practical physics schemes of work for CLEAPSS and exam criteria.
Analyse assessment data to design structured revision programs.
Coach Sixth Form students for university entrance exams (PAT/ENGAA) and the Physics Olympiad.
Lead school-wide STEM enrichment including robotics clubs and astronomy workshops.
