Job description

Lead Practitioner of Science

Start Date: September 2025

Type: Permanent, full-time

Salary: L7-L11

We are a Multi Academy Trust comprising six secondary schools and one primary school, with over 750 employees and more than 5,500 students, based in Dudley, West Midlands.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Head of Science. The successful candidate will be a qualified instructional coach or be prepared to complete this training, to develop teaching, learning, and pedagogy across the department and wider school.

The Lead Practitioner of Science is part of a team responsible for developing the quality of teaching, learning, and pedagogy across the department and the wider school. The Lead Practitioner is also accountable for ensuring students have opportunities for and experiences of extracurricular Science activities.

The Lead Practitioner works closely with the Head of Department, senior staff, and the central team. Lead Practitioners aim to accelerate improvement and raise standards in their subject area.

Responsibilities include planning and teaching high-quality lessons, improving student outcomes, and supporting student engagement in extracurricular activities. The role also involves analyzing performance data to ensure students receive appropriate support to achieve their best potential.
