Job summary

Herefordshire Council in Herefordshire is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join the Family Help locality team. You will work with children and families to deliver safeguarding, intervention, and support services within a statutory framework.

As Family Help Lead Practitioner, you will assess needs, coordinate multi‑agency support, chair key meetings, and contribute to decision-making while maintaining restorative practice and high professional standards.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration and commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Experience with children and families in statutory social care and safeguarding knowledge.
• Skilled communicator able to build trusted relationships with families and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a complex caseload as Family Help Lead Practitioner.
• Assess needs, identify risks, and develop Family Help Plans with partner agencies.
• Chair Child in Need, core group and strategy meetings; undertake safeguarding work.
• Accurate recording and high-quality reports, including court work.
