Job summary

Friar Gate Surgery is seeking an experienced Practice Nurse who can offer a full range of nursing services to join our friendly practice. The hours we require ideally would be between 25-30 hours weekly.

You will be required to undertake all aspects of the practice nurse role including cervical screening, baby immunisations, and chronic disease management, supporting our existing nurse and pharmacy technician, and working closely with the three GPs.

Main duties of the job

Patient Care:

• Assist and support the nursing team with clinical tasks like wound care, cytology, childhood immunisations, medicals, and chaperoning.
• Conduct pathology requests and manage LTCs including Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, and the Quality and Outcome Framework Reviews.

Clinical & Admin Duties:

• Follow protocols, maintain equipment and rooms, ensure stock rotations, handle vaccine orders, manage flu home visits, keep mandatory check records, and support administrative processes.

Confidentiality:

Safeguard patient data and uphold practice policies on sensitive information.

Health & Safety:

Implement infection control protocols, manage PPE and hand hygiene, handle specimens, oversee sterile environments, and participate in safety training and equipment monitoring.

Equality & Diversity:

Promote inclusive behaviour, respect patient rights, and act non-judgementally.

Development & Quality:

Participate in training, personal development, performance reviews, and audits to ensure high standards of care.

Communication:

At Friar Gate Surgery, we have 2 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, a Trainee Practice Nurse, Pharmacy Technician, Midwife, and an FCP. We serve a population of 5,000 patients. Staff parking facilities are available.
