Job summary

Weareedenbrook, a fast-growing InsurTech in the UK, seeks a Lead Portfolio Analyst for the Underwriting team. This hands-on role blends underwriting expertise with data science to develop automated strategies for short-term motor insurance and optimise portfolio performance.

You will lead analytics efforts, mentor junior analysts, and collaborate with Engineering and Product to deploy scalable decision engines while monitoring KPIs in near real-time and ensuring FCA-compliant practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in UK General Insurance, ideally high-frequency Motor Insurance.
• Proven ability to develop, implement and optimise profitable underwriting strategies.
• Expert SQL skills and advanced Python or R for modelling and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise underwriting strategies for high-volume UK motor insurance.
• Drive profitable growth through portfolio expansion, rate optimisation, and risk management.
• Utilise advanced modelling and data enrichment to improve risk selection and fraud detection.
• Monitor portfolio KPIs and performance in near real time, identifying emerging risks and actions.
• Conduct analysis to support product development across existing products and new opportunities.
• Ensure underwriting strategies comply with UK regulatory requirements, including FCA guidelines.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product to translate models into scalable underwriting decision engines.
• Line-manage and mentor junior analysts to support technical development and project delivery.
