Job summary

CHEP UK Ltd. is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor for our Durham site. You will lead a hands-on team on the shop floor, coordinating production and yard operations across a rotating two-shift pattern.

You will drive safety, quality and performance while supporting multiple operational areas. The role requires frontline leadership, strong people management, and the ability to coach staff to meet production targets in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams in manufacturing, production, logistics or warehouse environments.
• Strong people management and communication skills.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe systems of work.
• Experience working to operational KPIs and production targets.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day production and yard operations to ensure a safe, compliant and efficient working environment.
• Lead, motivate and support a team of operational colleagues.
• Monitor progress against production plans and take action to address any issues affecting performance.
• Carry out regular safety audits, shift checks and operational inspections.
• Ensure Health & Safety standards are maintained and promote a zero-harm culture.
• Support quality standards by ensuring correct operating procedures are followed at all times.
• Work closely with engineering, operations and site support teams to resolve issues and minimise downtime.
• Support absence management, return-to-work discussions and other first-line people management activities.
• Ensure colleagues have the tools, equipment and resources needed to perform their roles effectively.
• Maintain accurate operational records and support continuous improvement initiatives.
