Job summary

CHEP Durham is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead day-to-day production and yard operations on a rotating shift, ensuring safety, quality and targets are met. You will coach a team of around 10 colleagues on the shop floor, address issues quickly and collaborate with engineering and site support to minimise downtime.

You will drive health and safety compliance, monitor KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining accurate records and preparing for future leadership

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams within manufacturing, production, logistics or warehouse environments.
• Strong people management and communication skills.
• Hands-on leadership with ability to coach frontline teams in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day production and yard operations to ensure a safe, compliant and efficient working environment.
• Lead, motivate and support a team of operational colleagues.
• Monitor progress against production plans and address issues affecting performance.
• Carry out safety audits, shift checks and operational inspections.

• Support quality standards and ensure procedures are followed at all times.

• Support absence management, return-to-work discussions and other first-line people management activities.
• Ensure colleagues have the tools, equipment and resources needed to perform their roles effectively.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of production and yard operations, ensuring safety, quality and operational targets are achieved every shift.You'll lead a team of approximately 10 colleagues, spending the majority of your time on the shop floor supporting your team, monitoring performance, resolving operational issues and ensuring the operation runs smoothly.
