Omexom UK is seeking a Principal Design Engineer (PDE) for Overhead Transmission Lines to provide technical leadership and expert input on OHL design projects. The role requires strong PLS CADD/PLS TOWER expertise, chartered engineer credentials, and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams within budget and schedule constraints.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil/Mechanical/Structural Engineering; MSc/MEng advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Act as a technical lead for the OHL Design team, ensuring safe, robust, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.
• Design manage assigned projects and lead a team to deliver on time and within budget.
• Maintain change register, EW register, manage CEs and PMI; work with Design Manager on large schemes.
• Provide weekly inputs to Planners and own the agreed Programme.
• Ensure OHL Design Team capability and provide required training.
• Oversee OHL design packages across concept, feasibility and detailed design phases.
• Provide technical support to Substations and Underground cables.
• Ensure all design deliverables meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Supervise detailed analyses in PLS TOWER and PLSCADD.
• Lead technical peer reviews, quality checks, and design audits.
• Chair HAZID and HACON meetings.
• Support development of senior and junior engineers; provide guidance and training.
• Promote new technologies and continuous improvement in cable design.
• Participate in professional forums (IET, CIGRÉ, IEEE).
• Promote Omexom within industry to develop business and attract talent.
• Occasional travel within the UK (~1 trip every 8 weeks).
