Job summary

Manchester Central Hospital, operated by Sodexo, seeks a Junior Estates Officer (Mechanical) to lead a multidisciplinary maintenance team and oversee critical mechanical services across the hospital estate.

You will manage planned and reactive maintenance for HVAC, water safety, lifts, and other infrastructure, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance in a demanding NHS environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Background or equivalent is required.
• Experience maintaining mechanical building services and overseeing maintenance programmes.
• Proven people management experience in multi-disciplinary maintenance teams.
• Experience managing contracts and external contractors for service delivery.
• Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and compliance.
• Excellent organisational, financial, and communication skills including budget management.

Responsibilities

• Lead Mechanical Services team to ensure safe, efficient maintenance.
• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance and compliance with regulations.
• Manage contractors, monitor performance and value for money.
• Act as technical lead for mechanical systems and provide guidance to Estates and projects.
• Build relationships with stakeholders across Sodexo and the Trust.
