Job summary

Arcadis is recruiting multiple Principal Mechanical Design Engineer roles to support AMP8 water projects across the UK. You will lead multidisciplinary delivery teams, drive innovative mechanical design strategies and ensure delivery of safe, compliant process plant systems for water and wastewater assets.

The role offers the opportunity to mentor engineers, shape technical solutions, and work with clients and delivery partners across the country on long‑term frameworks extending into AMP9.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering process plant systems on complex projects (water & wastewater).
• Experience leading design teams and providing design leadership for multi-disciplinary projects.
• Experience with digital design platforms for design and construct projects.

Responsibilities

• Self-start and work independently or in teams to produce, check, review or approve complex mechanical designs.
• Lead design and advisory services for water and wastewater assets.
• Ensure safety through design leadership and actions.
• Deliver multi-disciplinary projects in a Design Lead capacity using modern digital tools.
• Develop innovative, optimized technical solutions based on client needs.
• Coordinate work with process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and ICA teams.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and delivery partners on technical and commercial matters.
• Ensure compliance with technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards.
• Mentor and supervise colleagues for professional development.
• Line management and performance development for assigned staff.
• Capture key project knowledge and innovations and promote MEICA team capabilities.
