What will you be doing as our new Lead Mechanical Engineer?

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer in our Place Based Thinking team, you will provide technical direction for large water recycling projects, ensuring designs comply with legislation, standards, and are optimized for efficiency and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Champion innovative approaches and digital technologies.
  • Build professional networks internally and externally.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers.

Role Accountabilities:

Engineering Leadership:
  • Report to the Principal Engineer and collaborate with project stakeholders.
  • Review design deliverables for quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Contribute to construction design management and commissioning strategies.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives and explore modular solutions.
Health & Safety:
  • Ensure designs meet statutory and industry standards, including safety regulations.
  • Propose solutions to improve health and safety compliance and reduce costs.
  • Share knowledge and contribute to lessons learned.
Transformation:
  • Utilise digital technologies for project efficiency.
  • Support efforts to reduce carbon footprint and promote sustainable practices.
  • Mentor team members for continuous improvement.
Delivery:
  • Guide project designs to be affordable, timely, sustainable, and compliant with Anglian Water’s obligations.

Skills, Experience, and Behaviours:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in water sector and large projects.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and engineering tools like CAD.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Decisive, judgment-based decision-making, integrity, and timeliness.
