Job summary

GE Power Conversion in the UK is seeking a lead mechanical engineer to join the systems engineering team in Glasgow or Rugby, supporting contract manufacturing of drive, switchboard and distribution products, and driving robust design documentation.

You will coordinate with suppliers, engineering, and project managers, create 3D models in Creo and manage BoMs in Teamcenter, and be prepared to travel within the UK and internationally; UK nationals with SC clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Significant manufacturing experience with knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Experience with sheetmetal design, welding, coatings and electro-mechanical assembly.
• Familiarity with DFMA and material selection.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
• Strong engineering, communication and organisational skills.
• UK national and eligibility for SC security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacture of power electronics, switchboards and distribution equipment; respond to technical queries and manage schedules.
• Act as main technical contact for mechanical topics on contract manufacturing work.
• Work with supplier quality to assess capabilities of new suppliers.
• Collaborate with product and project managers to set priorities, manage cost, and develop schedules.
• Contribute to test plans and support testing and customer factory acceptance testing.
• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in Creo; manage BoMs in Teamcenter.
