Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design across projects in London. The role offers ownership of delivery, mentoring junior engineers and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

You will work on building services design within the built environment, ensuring compliance with UK regulations, and promoting sustainable, innovative engineering approaches while working in a hybrid London setup.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical/building services design experience.
• Experience within the built environment or consultancy sector.
• Strong CAD and mechanical design capabilities.
• Project management and team leadership experience.
• A relevant Mechanical Engineering degree.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership.
• Strong knowledge of UK regulations and industry standards.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• A genuine interest in sustainable and innovative engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects from concept through to delivery.
• Manage project scope, resources, programme and technical delivery.
• Review mechanical calculations, designs and CAD models.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and ensure technical quality.
• Support R&D and introduce innovative, sustainable engineering solutions.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
• Work closely with clients and contractors to deliver practical, compliant solutions.
• Ensure designs meet relevant UK regulations and industry standards.
