Job summary

Vantage Consulting is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead complex projects from concept through detailed design, testing and completion. You will mentor less experienced engineers and drive continuous improvement in design practices.

You will own 2D/3D CAD deliverables, perform stress and thermodynamics calculations, and ensure designs meet customer specs and international standards. A Chartered Engineer status is advantageous and UK driving is required.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• At least 5 years' post-graduate engineering experience with concept and detailed mechanical design.
• SolidWorks preferred and strong CAD capability for 2D drawings.
• Experience with detailed manufacturing drawings and design verification.
• Knowledge of stress analysis to ASME VIII, API 6A and/or API 17D.
• Understanding of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics calculations.
• Knowledge or exposure to API 6A and API 17D.
• Experience with forging, machining, coating, fitting, welding and fabrication processes.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or progression toward it is advantageous.
• Proficient in MS Office and holding a full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities from concept to detailed design, testing and completion.
• Produce designs meeting customer specifications and applicable standards.
• Develop and improve existing products for performance, reliability and cost efficiency.
• Assist in concept design, prototyping and qualification testing for new products.
• Create high-quality 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.
• Perform engineering calculations including stress, fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.
