Job summary

WA Consultants in Glasgow is seeking a Lead/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the design of mechanical systems from concept to production. The role involves mentoring junior engineers and working with manufacturing to deliver robust, cost-effective solutions.

You will lead multi-project initiatives across sectors, apply SolidWorks for 2D/3D design, and design for manufacturability, including injection moulding and sheet metal components.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior/lead mechanical design role within multi-project environments.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities to guide junior engineers.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical products and enclosures across the full lifecycle.
• Produce and review 2D/3D CAD designs, primarily using SolidWorks.
• Define mechanical architecture and ensure manufacturability for production.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to support production and assembly processes.
• Drive design for manufacturability including injection moulding and sheet metal parts.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Support multiple projects across diverse industry sectors.
