SMS Environmental is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer based in Oxfordshire/Berkshire to deliver plumbing, mechanical, and water hygiene projects across customer sites. The role is hands-on, with mentorship of team plumbers and on-site project leadership.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in plumbing, a Level 2 Plumbing qualification, HWSS/G3, and a full UK driving licence. DBS check is required as part of pre-employment screening.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of plumbing experience, ideally in water hygiene
• G3 Unvented Hot Water qualification or HWSS
• Level 2 Plumbing qualification (NVQ, Certificate, Diploma or equivalent)
• Full UK manual driving licence

Responsabilités

• Carry out plumbing and mechanical works including scheduled remedial and reactive tasks
• Lead and manage larger mechanical installations including plantroom and domestic installations
• Take ownership of project delivery on site, prioritise work, coordinate materials and meet deadlines
• Carry out water testing, sampling and control work when required

Location: Berkshire/Oxfordshire Salary: up to £45,000 (+OTE and double rate overtime) Contract: Permanent

SMS Environmental is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer based in Oxfordshire/Berkshire to deliver plumbing, mechanical, and water hygiene projects across customer sites.

In this hands-on role, you will manage remedial and reactive tasks, handle water hygiene work alongside Water Treatment Engineers, and mentor team plumbers to maintain high standards.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Carrying out a range of plumbing and mechanical works, including scheduled remedial and reactive tasks
• Leading and managing larger mechanical installations, including plantroom and domestic installations
• Taking ownership of project delivery on site, including prioritising work, coordinating materials and meeting deadlines
• Carrying out water testing, sampling and control work when required

What We're Looking For:

• A minimum of 5 years' plumbing experience, ideally within the water hygiene industry
• A minimum Level 2 Plumbing qualification (NVQ, Certificate, Diploma or equivalent)
• A G3 Unvented Hot Water qualification or Hot Water Systems and Safety (HWSS)
• A full UK manual driving licence

The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check as part of the pre-employment screening process.
