Job summary

Lonza is seeking a Lead Analytical Scientist based in Slough to drive analytical characterisation of therapeutic proteins. You will spearhead complex MS-based projects, develop robust methods and mentor scientists, ensuring high-quality data for regulatory studies and biocomparability.

Hands-on LC-MS/MS experience is essential. The role is site-based to enable real-time collaboration and precise analytical work in a fast-paced medicines manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Essential: hands-on mass spectrometry experience, especially LC-MS/MS for protein/biotherapeutic characterisation.
• Proven ability to develop, validate, optimise and troubleshoot analytical methods for proteins (LC-based like RP, SEC).
• Experience mentoring or training scientists and leading projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex analytical projects from planning through execution, meeting objectives and regulatory expectations.
• Develop, optimise and troubleshoot analytical methods for therapeutic proteins, focusing on LC-MS/MS characterisation.
• Apply MS to investigate protein structure, size, charge variants and PTMs, interpreting data to draw conclusions.
• Provide technical leadership and training on LC-MS techniques to scientists and system users.
• Perform and review analytical testing supporting characterisation, reference standards and comparability studies.
• Collaborate with internal teams and customers, clearly communicating findings and Lonza's capabilities.
• Drive continuous improvement and maintain analytical capabilities per regulatory expectations.
