Job summary

Todd Hayes Ltd is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join our Southampton-based team, focusing on the design and development of electrical systems for luxury yachts. The role involves producing detailed 2D electrical schematics and panel drawings in AutoCAD, creating cable schedules, and ensuring design standards across the range meet production needs.

You will lead a design team, coordinate with Production, Procurement and Client Managers, and drive improvements through R&D and value

Qualifications

• Design-related degree or relevant qualification, or equivalent electrical design experience.
• 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Experience in marine electrical design preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain electrical design standards across the range.
• Produce, check, update and issue accurate 2D electrical schematic and panel drawings using AutoCAD.
• Develop contract-specific 2D CAD electrical information for Production.
• Produce accurate cable running schedules, considering manufacturing processes and installation requirements.
• Establish clear and accurate scopes of supply using the project's Master Work List.
• Lead the Electrical Design Change Request (DCR) process across the range.
• Ensure electrical design information is delivered accurately and to agreed deadlines.
• Provide technical oversight to the wider Electrical Design team and collaborate with Production, Electrical, Engineering and Joinery teams.
• Attend development, production and project meetings, providing timely technical information and responding to production feedback.
• Work with Client Managers and Procurement to manage the electrical design aspects of the external supply chain.
• Contribute to management reporting and ensure design information reflects contract variations and production requirements.
• Contribute to product improvement, R&D and value engineering projects and identify opportunities to improve electrical systems.
