Job summary

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) are looking for a Low Voltage to High Voltage Lead Electrical Construction Fitter to join their Southern region team. Base locations span Basingstoke, Slough, Reading, Swindon, Oxford, and nearby areas.

You will construct electrical apparatus in substations from 11kV to 132kV, ensuring safe delivery of live projects. A clean driving licence and willingness to travel across the network are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the electricity distribution network and experience in live substation environments (11kV–132kV).
• Ability to read and interpret single-line wiring diagrams and cabling layouts.
• Strong safety focus and compliance with CDM regulations on construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Construct electrical apparatus within substations on the distribution network (11kV–132kV).
• Deliver projects safely in live substation environments and respond to faults as required.
• Install fixed relays, CT metering apparatus, and commissioning tasks.
