Job summary

Pembrokeshire County Council seeks a committed Teaching Assistant/Cover Supervisor Level 3 to support learning across the school and supervise classes during short-term absence of teachers. The role combines Teaching Assistant Level 3 duties with Level 2 responsibilities, requiring flexible, motivated individuals with a passion for supporting children.

Qualifications

• A recognised Level 3 qualification relevant to the role, such as NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistants; Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education; NVQ Level 3 Childcare in Education; City & Guilds Advanced Certificate in Learning Support.
• Alternatively, a relevant professional qualification, such as Teaching, Social Work, Nursing or a relevant degree, will be considered.
• A minimum of two years' recent relevant experience supporting children and young people.
• Experience of delivering learning programmes and supporting pupils with a range of learning needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with children, staff and parents/carers.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A commitment to inclusion, equality and safeguarding.
• The ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils' learning and development on an individual and group basis.
• Assist with the planning and delivery of learning activities.
• Support pupils with additional learning needs.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Deliver targeted interventions and support programmes.
• Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teachers.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, purposeful learning environment.
• Prepare and organise learning resources.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers and external agencies where appropriate.
• Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people at all times.
