Job summary

Penclawdd Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) / Cover Supervisor to support children across the primary age range. The role is 29.5 hours per week, term time only, with a temporary first contract and potential to become permanent.

The successful candidate will support learning, deliver whole-class lessons during PPA and absence, promote inclusion, and demonstrate strong literacy, numeracy and classroom management skills within the Curriculum for Wales

Qualifications

• Experience supporting primary-aged learners.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Good classroom management and behaviour understanding.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning across the primary age range (29.5 hours per week).
• Deliver engaging whole-class lessons during PPA, leadership time, and staff absence.
• Work with individuals and groups to promote inclusion and support children with additional needs.
• Demonstrate excellent classroom management and high expectations for behaviour and progress.
• Communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues and parents, building positive relationships.
• Be a team player contributing to school improvement and ongoing professional development.
