Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in London to drive end‑to‑end software solutions for digital markets execution technology. You will build high‑performance, latency‑sensitive services and lead architecture discussions across distributed systems.

Responsibilities include incident response, API/versioning design, observability, and secure SDLC practices, with mentoring and cross‑team collaboration in a global setting.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced experience in Java.
• Hands‑on experience delivering design, development, testing, and operational stability for mission‑critical platforms.
• Advanced in one or more programming languages with deep Java (17+) expertise including concurrency and OO design.
• Experience designing clean APIs and rollout strategies for distributed systems with backward compatibility.

Responsibilities

• Executes and oversees end-to-end software solutions, architecture, and troubleshooting for trading systems.
• Designs high‑performance, latency‑sensitive services with awareness of dependencies.
• Develops secure production code and reviews code written by others.
• Leads technical analysis, estimation, planning, code reviews, and architecture sessions.
• Establishes reliability goals and implements observability and resilience practices.
• Leads incident response and post-incident reviews to improve production stability and automation.
• Upholds secure-by-default engineering practices and risk/control standards across the SDLC.
• Guides integration contracts, API/versioning strategies, and deprecation paths for platform services.
• Drives adoption of enterprise‑approved AI‑assisted engineering tools with validation standards for AI outputs.
• Mentors engineers and fosters inclusive, collaborative culture aligned to measurable outcomes.
