Job summary

J.P. Morgan is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in London to join Digital Markets Execution Technology. You will contribute technically across multiple areas, ensuring secure, scalable production code and robust observability for trading systems.

You will lead architecture discussions, code reviews, and incident response while mentoring engineers and promoting secure, inclusive collaboration. The role emphasizes enterprise API design, microservices, and adoption of AI-assisted engineering

Qualifications

• Advanced Java (17+), concurrency, memory management, OO design.
• Hands-on design, development, testing, and operational stability for mission-critical platforms.
• Spring Boot, microservices, Kubernetes, Linux; core networking/messaging concepts.
• CI/CD, automated testing, resilience, and security in SDLC.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and validating AI outputs.

Responsibilities

• Executes and oversees end-to-end software solutions, engineering standards, architecture, and troubleshooting for trading systems.
• Designs and builds latency-sensitive services with awareness of system dependencies.
• Develops secure, high-quality production code and reviews others' code.
• Leads technical analysis, planning, code reviews, and architecture sessions to drive delivery.
• Establishes reliability goals and implements observability, resilience, and operational readiness.
• Leads incident response and post-incident reviews to improve production stability and performance; drives automation/remediation.
• Upholds secure-by-default practices and risk/control standards across the SDLC.
• Guides API/versioning strategies and deprecation paths for platform services.
• Drives adoption of enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices and sets validation standards for correctness, performance, and security.
• Mentors engineers and fosters inclusion and collaboration aligned to outcomes.
