Job summary

HelloKindred in the United Kingdom is seeking a Lead Java Engineer to join the Modernisation Programme within Tax Administration. You will lead technical design, development and delivery of services, using Java, Spring, Kubernetes, and platform integration technologies, with React frontend experience preferred.

The role requires BPSS clearance eligibility and a track record of guiding engineers through complex problems in a fast-paced, standards-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Experience developing solutions with Java and Spring.
• Hands-on Kubernetes and platform integration experience.
• Experience leading design, development and delivery in complex environments.
• Ability to translate architecture into detailed technical solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and guidance of other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and development activities for services in the Modernisation Programme.
• Create low-level designs building on architectural work.
• Translate designs into actionable backlogs for Build phase.
• Develop and deliver services using Java, Spring, Kubernetes and platform integration tech.
• Guide engineers through technical challenges and solutions.
• Adopt shared components within the Modernisation Programme.
• Drive engineering best practices and standards.
• Collaborate with Architects, QA Leads and Engagement Managers, then with the full team in Build.
• Contribute to the wider Lead Engineer community in Tax Administration.
