Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking a Senior Cable Engineer based in Scotland to join the Offshore Project Engineering team. You will drive technical excellence and oversee HVDC/HVAC cable projects to support the Pathway to 2030 and Net Zero goals.

The role requires a BEng/BSc in engineering and proven experience with ECC contracts, CDM regulations, and design reviews. Flexible first, with a permanent full-time pattern and competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

Proven technical expertise in HVDC/HVAC transmission cable projects.
Experience with ECC contracts and CDM regulations, especially as Supervisor/Principal Designer.
Strong knowledge of industry standards, specifications and best-practice.

Responsibilities

Support FEED activities including route/landfall development and risk assessment with environmental, consenting, geotechnical, civil and offshore teams.
Drive safety-in-design as Designer/Principal Designer, manage geotechnical risks and reduce safety/quality risks.
Define cable system requirements for ECCs and contribute to tender reviews as part of the technical team.
Review and approve Contractor designs for compliance, and oversee installation and commissioning works.
Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance during traineeships.
