Job summary

WSP is seeking a senior HVDC engineer to join our offshore transmission team in the UK. You will support asset owners and operators through all lifecycle stages of HVDC projects, providing expert design reviews, specifications, and coordination across multi-disciplinary teams.

This role offers hybrid working with opportunities to work across UK offices and onsite as required, with emphasis on developing client relationships and participating in professional bodies.

Qualifications

• CEng or working towards Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with HVDC Station Engineering, Control & Protection.
• Ability to coordinate across project disciplines and external subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical advice for HVDC OEM design reviews.
• Witness HVDC OEM factory testing, on-site inspections, and commissioning of HVDC projects.
• Develop HVDC projects, including technology review/selection and bid preparation/review.
• Develop technical/functional specifications for HVDC converters.
• Design primary plant layouts for HVDC Converter stations.
• Design reviews of HVDC Control and Protection.
• Provide engineering design input to major electrical power infrastructural development projects through lifecycle stages.
• Coordinate with client project teams and internal disciplines.
• Provide OEM Support Services.
• Supervise site pre-commissioning and commissioning oversight.
• Conduct Due Diligence.
• Provide Technical expert services.
